Gang Green can't pull out the upset against the Steelers

After two straight upset wins in Indianapolis and New England, the Jets finally met there match against the Steelers on Sunday, losing the AFC Championship for the second straight year. After two straight wins against arguably two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today in the previous two weeks, Jets fans, including myself thought that Mark Sanchez would be able to lead the Jets to a win against the Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Unfortunately, this was far from true. The first half of the game was a blowout and at times was difficult to even watch. The Steelers poured on 24 first unanswered points in the first half, until the Jets kicked a field goal in the closing seconds of the game that put the smallest bit of hope in Jets fans. It was a massacre. Roethlisberger ran circles around the Jets defense in the first half, rushing for first downs on 3rd and 6 multiple times. It was absolutely amazing at how poor of a job the defense did at stopping the him from running and tackling him. He could not be stopped. The offense was also non-existent. Scoring three points in the first half is obviously not going to win you a championship, especially against the best quarterback in the league (in my opinion), in Roethlisberger. The Jets, to everyone's surprise, decided to show up and play football in the second half of the game scoring 19 unanswered points and allowing the Steelers to score 0, giving Jets fans that much more hope that maybe, just maybe, the Jets could pull out a win. After being stopped multiple times at about the 3 inch yard-line, the Jets could not pull out the victory, losing yet another AFC Championship. Overall, the Jets second half play is how they should have played in the first half. They showed that they could hang with the best of the best in the second half, but they just need to put all of the pieces together. You can't play one half of football the way it should be played and expect to win the game. Guess us Jets fans are just going to have to wait another season for Sanchez to bring home the Lombardi Trophy to New York.
